Cricket World Cup is the premier international championship of one-day cricket in the world. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and is contested by all Test-playing nations (currently the only ten teams that are officially allowed to play the longest form of cricket), plus qualifiers. Since the inaugral championship in 1975, the Cricket World Cup is held around every four years. The 2011 Cricket World Cup is set to be held in the four Asian Test cricket playing countries Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The World Cup will be held during the months of February and March 2011.
The Cricket World Cup was first held in 1975 in England because it was the only nation at the time that had the resources to stage an event of such magnitude.
